The UK Cyber Security Council exists to champion, connect and professionalise the UK’s cyber security workforce. Established to support a fastgrowing, valuable and important profession, the Council sets standards of competence and ethics, awards professional titles, and works with partners across government, industry and academia to strengthen the UK’s cyber resilience.
As the Council enters an important new phase of maturity and growth, we are now seeking an exceptional Chair of Trustees to provide strategic leadership to the Board and support the organisation’s transition towards longterm sustainability and impact.
This is a highprofile opportunity to lead a purposedriven organisation operating at the intersection of national security, professional standards and economic growth. As Chair, you will work closely with the Chief Executive and Trustees to ensure effective governance, strong commercial oversight and delivery of the Council’s charitable mission. You will also act as an ambassador for the organisation across a complex stakeholder landscape, including government, regulators, industry and the wider cyber community.
We are seeking a senior leader of credibility and integrity, with experience of chairing boards or committees and overseeing organisational growth in a regulated, charity or profitforpurpose context. You will bring strong financial and commercial acumen, sound judgement, and the confidence to support and challenge executive leadership appropriately. While prior experience of the cyber security sector is welcome, it is not essential; most important is a genuine interest in the profession, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to the highest standards of governance and inclusion.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of a vital national profession at a moment of significant opportunity and growth. If you are an experienced board director with the credibility, curiosity and commitment to support a purposedriven organisation operating in the public interest, we would be delighted to hear from you.
