The SIA exists to protect the public through effective regulation of the private security industry. We are a high performing regulator, working collaboratively with industry, enforcement agencies, Government, and the devolved administrations in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

You will join us at a time of change and increased public interest in us and our work. Earlier this year, Parliament passed new legislation which named the SIA as the new, independent, Martyn’s Law regulator; an important and substantial role that will raise the standards of preparedness and protective security across the UK.

In this new role you will be responsible for the set-up, mobilisation and iterative development of inspections and enforcement capability for Martyn’s Law, establishing operational strategies, systems and teams in readiness for go-live in Spring 2027. Once established, you will advise on non-compliance and ensure robust enforcement action is taken where appropriate, whilst influencing external relationships with premises, events and enforcement partners to promote compliance and raise protective security standards. Your selection and development of a high-performing team delivering this statutory function will be critical to success.

A senior leader in a comparable organisation, you will bring experience of leading inspections and/or investigations in a regulatory environment. To this end, you will have used investigation powers to sanction, deter and disrupt non-compliance, and drive positive changes in sector/ industry behaviours. A strategic thinker and a visible and inclusive leader with excellent communication and stakeholder liaison capability, you will be a credible ambassador for Martyn’s Law. Notably, whilst protective security or counter-terrorism experience is desirable, we welcome applications from leaders across sectors who share our commitment to public protection and regulatory excellence.

This is both an exceptional career opportunity and an exciting time to be part of the SIA; there is significant high profile and external interest in the operational outcomes in this portfolio. If you have the necessary skills, expertise, and experience, share our passion for making a real difference to public safety and will embrace our values and culture, we look forward to hearing from you.
