
Julie brings diverse public sector leadership experience to her role as Partner in our Central Government Team.
Specialising in executive and non-executive roles in transport and the environment, Julie leads a broad range of campaigns across the wider public sector. With a strong track record supporting senior leadership roles in protected landscapes, including the appointment of Chief Executives for seven of the UK’s 15 National Parks, Julie has also secured the appointments of notable non-executive roles such as Chairs of Network Rail and HS2 Ltd, along with a wider range of senior executive roles including within Department for Transport, Department for Work and Pensions and Government Legal Department.
With GatenbySanderson since 2019, Julie’s brings Director-level experience from her prior career which included extensive work in regulation, where she led policy and corporate functions in statutory corporations and NDPBs, professional regulators, and in governance in the NHS. As a senior leader, she has worked to drive transformational change for consumers and citizens in sectors as varied as telecommunications and legal services. She has also worked on public body reform including the creation of Ofcom and the establishment of the Legal Services Board.
In all of her roles, she has worked closely with public appointees including Chairs, NEDs and advisory Panel Members, and brings deep understanding of public sector governance and the invaluable contribution public appointees make to the UK economy and beyond. She has been a Chair and Trustee of a social justice charity and acted as a Restorative Justice Panel Member in the youth justice system.
These extensive networks and experience enable Julie to bring extensive and varied public sector client-side insight to our Central Government team.
